  • Jesus was fair to sinners, strangers, those who were ignored, and those who were poor. We are asked to be the same.
  • The Kingdom of God grows when we seek to build a better community, a more just nation, and a peaceful world.

Chapter 3
  • Baptism makes us members of one family led by the Holy Spirit. In this family, there are no boundaries or preferences.
  • Jesus calls us to be servants. He wants us to care for others, especially those who are poor or suffering.

  • Each year on Pentecost, we celebrate in a special way the coming of the Holy Spirit. Strengthened by the Holy Spirit, we are all God's workers in the world.

  • Confirmation calls those anointed to live out their Baptism as witnesses of Jesus Christ.

  • In the Eucharist we are strengthened to love and serve others.
  • Nourished by the Eucharist, we are better able to live out our faith. We can do this by protecting life, respecting the rights of others, and helping people to meet their needs.

  • In the general intercessions we pray for the needs of the whole Church.
  • The Concluding Rite sends us out to be the Body of Christ to others.

  • The Church speaks out against social sin, and we work to stop the things in society that allow unjust behaviors or conditions to exist. The Church encourages all people to turn to God and live lives of love and respect.

  • If we help people in the community to understand one another and to work to settle differences peacefully, they may experience reconciliation with one another.

  • We are called to care for those who are sick.

  • During Lent we show special concern for those in need.

  • During Mass on Holy Thursday, we have a special ceremony of the washing of the feet. This commits us to follow the example of Jesus' love and service.
  • In Good Friday's Celebration of the Lord's Passion, there are ten general intercessions that include prayers for the whole world.

  • The Beatitudes describe the ways Christ's disciples should think and act.
  • Jesus showed us how to love. He took care of his family and friends, and he treated all people with respect. He stood up for the rights of others and helped them find peace and comfort.
