  • Through the trusting relationship of faith, the patriarchs and their families learned what it meant to be a part of God's family. They are a good example of reliance on God.
  • Providence is God's plan for and protection of all creation. Through providence God leads his creation toward the perfection for which it was made

  • We keep the Lord's Day holy by participating in the celebration of the Eucharist, by resting from work and enjoying our families, by remembering our relationship with God, and by serving the needs of our community.

  • During Advent we think about the images Isaiah used to tell the people that the Savior would come and call them to turn violence into peace.

  • During Christmas we celebrate Holy Family Sunday. The Church teaches that our families should learn to be like the Holy Family, with love and respect for one another among the members.

  • Amos called the people of Israel to act justly. We, too, are called to act justly and to stand up for what is fair and right. We all share in the work of social justice.

  • Micah preached that goodness lies in the practice of social justice and faithfulness to the one true God.

  • During Lent, we are called to practice almsgiving, the giving of time, money, or goods to those in need.

  • Some members of the Church are missionaries who share their faith with those they serve. They may build homes, schools, and hospitals. They may teach people to farm and to provide for other needs.
  • The Church respects the rights of all people to practice their faith. We join them and with people of no religious belief in trying to make the world a better place for all people.
  • Women and men in the laity are called to be involved in city, state, and national governments. They have a responsibility to act and make decisions based on the teachings of Jesus and on their faith.
